​"What was truly inspiring was the power of GPC. As I said in my remarks during the presentation last Thursday, I have seldom if ever seen such statistical strength and results. That being said, it is very difficult to determine which part of GPC is the most important component. It becomes very difficult to research because there are so many variables that are seemingly important in the holistic administration of GPC and it's hard to parametrically evaluate each one."

"I was VERY proud of GPC, in that for our very first attempt at scientific research, I think we did extremely well. Perhaps because it was our first attempt, we took it especially seriously in terms of follow through and quality. Research was not “old hat” to us. … I came away from the Conference with a renewed and continuing sense that GPC is truly a spiritually integrated psychotherapy/ministry, in contrast to what I heard in many of the presentations, where practitioners were using interventions such as a prayer, scripture, silent prayer, etc. periodically “plugged” into a particular psychology. How do we in GPC share that nuance, as we speak to others to educate them concerning the difference?"

"There seemed to be a wide variety of understandings of what "spiritual interventions" consisted of. One of the projects listed the use of scriptural quotations as an intervention that was helpful to some. That raises a host of questions about which scriptures, how employed, who choses, how understood, whether understood contextually, etc. When you realize that there are "texts of terror" in scripture, the use of scripture becomes complicated, not to speak of the possible mechanical way it could be employed."

"At Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado, contemplation was used in more than half of their sessions. It would be interesting to study the effects of this and the praying and quiet contemplation we have in GPC. This could be supported by the wealth of neuroscience on the effects of contemplation on the brain."
